Default [SOLVED] Zimbra Open source work as a backup mx

Hello masters..

Again i need your help.

I have installed Zimbra open source edition and works perfect on LIVE networks. Now i need another Zimbra open source which i already installed and works fine. But i have to configure as a backup mx for this zimbra.

My dns entry is as below.

mail IN MX 10 mail.example.com
mail IN MX 20 backup.example.com

Now i have to configure another zimbra as a backup mx, So can anybody tell me how to configure zimbra for work as a backup mx?

it is very appreciated for helping me.

Thanx in advance ..

Is there any specific reason you want Zimbra to act as your backup MX ?

Do you want some sort of failover solution? otherwise I'd just use postfix as a backup mx, theres no real need to install zimbra for that imho ?

Regards

Jeroen

Again thanx,

But i solved this problem. i am not started amavisd. after starting amavisd, i can send mail.

i also tested from remotely, i can easily send mail to this server, and also can send relay_domains server as i configured before. But cannot send mail on yahoo or gmail from remotely. Is this problem or by default server cannot allow to send mail to another domain?

Now I want to stop zimbra for boot time start. When i restart system, zimbra will not start automatically.
can u tell me what should i do for this?

Again very very thank you for quick replying my questions.

Hi,

This sounds like normal behavior,

It should allow you to send to the domains you have configured it as a backup MX for, but not for any other domains, otherwise it would be an open relay.

If you want to send mail using this server you should configure the mynetworks parameter.

as for zimbra starting on boot, this is configured with run levels, (Runlevel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

look at what distribution you are using, and then remove the S99zimbra symlink from the appropriate run levels

Make sure you aren't using the zimbra version of postfix/amavisd though, those will stop working too if you remove the S99zimbra link.

Regards

Jeroen
