Question Redo Log Out of Sequence

My redo log is out of sequence due to the fact that I had disabled it. I have since started it again. My full backups are completing without any problems. However, I am still getting incremental backups with errors due to gaps in the redo log.

The advice helpfully offered along with the errors of the zmbackupquery command suggests that I delete all existing backups and take a full backup in order to avoid future problems. I have only taken part of that advice and made full backups, but because I have space, I have left the previous existing backups.

My questions:

1. Is there any benefit to keeping the old backups after a full has been made?

2. If so, is there a way to reset the redo logs to eliminate the gap?

Thanks,
Rob
