Lightbulb Less is more?

I realize that the intention of this project is to integrate with as many emails and devices as possible. Having acknowledged that I'm wondering if it's possible to have an installation where the mail client is completely turned off and not running, not showing as an option, etc.

I am primarily concerned about running the calendar portion of zimbra.

can this be done? don't worry about it being "too difficult" just can it be done?

You can turn off major features within the admin console. It's under the class of service configuration.
