Post Regarding Cold backup, in zcs 4.5.10

Hi,

I am using zcs.4.5.10 on RHEL5 in 64 bit in production envirnoment. Since
we are using open source, we are taking the cold backup at every midnight.

It takes nearly 15-20 minutes to take the backup, I want to know if any person, send mail during these period, to our mail server it will be rejected or in queue.

Regards,
Chandu

If its cold then all ZCS services will be down including the SMTP port. Any emails from external should be queued by the remote MTA. Once your services are backup, and a pre-determined amount of time has passed, the remote MTA should attempt delivery again. I would though suggest that you look at either installing a second MTA to provide backup MX, or use one of the many companies that offer the service for a fee. I personally use DynDNS :: Backup MX and have never had any issues at all

If it is just being used as a SMTP relay then why have ZCS on it ?

You will need to setup a separate server then. And for the cost you might aswell use a third party to perform backup MX as they have multiple servers around the world.
