Default Internet Explorer waits (almost) forever to load mailbox

One of our users is unable to open his mailbox with Internet Explorer. It waits forever on the "Loading..." screen. I'm able to confirm this with IE6 on XP SP2. He's got 3.5GB of Mail in some 6800 folders.

I am able to load the mailbox with Firefox after clicking Continue on the "Warning: Unresponsive Script" dialog.

Anything we can do to get this mailbox to work with IE?

(Update... 'forever' is a bit of an exaggeration... the mailbox finally appeared for me after about 15 minutes.)

How many contacts does this person have? The size of the mailbox and number of messages shouldn't have an affect on login time. We do load the folder list and contacts at startup. So if either of those are large then that may cause problem. 6800 folders seems like alot, but would like to know how many contacts are in that account.

You can try to run with ?debug=t this will open a debug window and add timing to try and detect where it's slow. Try this on Firefox first as the times should just be longer on IE but we should still be able to figure out what is slow.

No luck with http://zimbra.example.com/?debug=t. I get a blank browser and a JavaScript error:

Error: m has no properties
Source File: http://zimbra.example.com/?debug=t
Line: 120

Network Edition Version 3.0.1_GA_160.RHEL4 Feb 16, 2006

Ok maybe timing is not working in that build. Does debug=3 work? Also you never answered my question... How many contacts does this mailbox have?

Response - [05:28:25.931]
NEW RUN - [05:28:31.845]
GetInfoRequest - [05:28:32.333]
Response - [05:28:39.993]
GetContactsRequest - [05:30:16.712]
SearchRequest - [05:30:18.764]
BatchRequest - [05:30:18.884]
Response - [05:30:19.644]
Response - [05:30:20.185]

The output of the right pane is attached.

Well you can see the times there that it takes nearly a minute to parse load all those folders. So it's clear that the folder structure and number is what's causing the slow load time. My guess is we can optimize this some (we've had to do alot of work around contacts for the same reason). Can you post this data to bugzilla for us to track. Thanks!
