Oh, maybe I should had elaborate. It is as if each sent/received email is archived for compliance towards retention stds/e-Discovery purposes.
Zimbra email archiving, discovery, and search for corporate governance, SOX and HIPAA compliance.

saw some ad-hoc means using postix e.g. Zimbra Tips : Archiving, How to Make an Archive for Every Incoming and Outgoing Mail | Spirit of Change and Re: How to exclude addresses from always_bcc? - ReadList.com

Well if you always bcc you will get both inbound and outbound. Or you could look at Legal Intercept - Zimbra :: Wiki for each account.

The ZAD (mail archiving & discovery feature) is a function of Zimbra NE version 5, use mailArchiva (there's a free version and it only requires one minor change to Zimbra config) if you want if for the Open Source version of Zimbra. You really should upgrade to Zimbra Version 5, the version of Zimbra you're using is not supported,
