    Hi KevinH

    nothing unusual in the log.

    zmsaslauthdctl status doesn't work

saslauthd seems to be running but still does not work with Thunderbird Secure Authentication.

Are you using STMP auth or trying to use SSL?

I am just trying to use Secure Authentication in Thunderbird, and not SSL.

SSL works, but I don't want the entire session to be secured. Only want the authentication to be secured.

What I select Secure Authentication in Thunderbird (with and without SSL), I get an error saying that the server does not support secure authentication.

I suppose Secure Authentication is saslauthd?

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Hi KevinH,

I Would like to use Secure Authentication in Thunderbird for this feature:

Thunderbird email client - support for GSSAPI authentication. This extends the ability to do secure single-sign on with Kerberos to your email reading.

    http://microsys.unity.ncsu.edu/blog/...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

    Please could you help me?

    thanks in advance,

    Jack

p.s. in Thunderbird I have SSL and Secure authentication checked and the domain account and password is the same in Zimbra.
In Zimbra I have in IMAP, enable SSL checked and enable clear text password unchecked.
But I have the warning fron Thunderbird: Mail Server does not support secure authentication

    p.s. II

I Have Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 and Zimbra 4.0.3, If I use only IMAP SSL work fine.

    Hi Kevin

I upgraded my Zimbra server to 4.5.3. Still having the same problem.
Still getting this error "You cannot log in to myzimbraserver.com because
you have enabled secure authentication and this server does not support it.
To log in, turn off secure authentication for this account.".

Not trying to use smtp auth.

Trying to use Secure Authentication in Thunderbird for login to the Zimbra imap server, and not the smtp outgoing mail server.

I do not want to use SSL in Thunderbird as that would encrypt the whole session instead of just the logon password.

I also have the same problem with Outlook when using its "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)". Got this error "A connection to the server could not be established".
