Default Auto share calendar to account upon account creation

Anyone know how to or have any ideas how one would automatically share an existing calendar such that it would appear in a user account when the account is created?

I.E. there's a calendar of academic events and its auto shared to student accounts when those accounts are created for the semester.

Thanks in Advance.

we create accounts via scrdipt instead of the web interface for this exact reason. once you learn zmprov and zmmailbox you can write some good scripts like this. our script

1. adds the user
2. shares the user's calendar read only to the rest of teh company
3. mounts the company calendar as /Company Calendar in their calendar tab
4. various other things

you use zmprov to create teh account, and zmmailbox to do things wtih the calendar. look on the wiki for good examples.

Default Willing to share?

BDial,

Would you be willing to share your script? I'm especially interested in the method you're using to share the new user's calendar with the rest of the company.

Many thanks!

I would like to see this as well. We want to create a calendar for the entire company and share it to everyone.

You could always write a script yourself: Ajcody-User-Management-Topics - Zimbra :: Wiki & Zmmailbox - Zimbra :: Wiki

Well you should give details of what you've tried and what the results have been, saying 'it doesn't work' isn't really very informative.

yea. I know I'm just trying to get it all together.

From what I understand, zmprov either can't or shouldn't be ran from a bash script correct? We are currently running OOS 5.08 and just purchased the Network version of 6.0. My thought was to use a script to create all of the accounts with new passwords and in the process create a company calendar and use zmmailbox to add this calendar to all of the accounts.

I have a script that I can run on my old server that will email all of the users their new temporary password for the new server once it comes online. I just can't get a script down right to create the new accounts and then the calendar.

What would be the best process for this?
