Default Relay through external spam filter clarification

I apologize if this has already been addressed, but everything I found in the forum on this issue was several years old.

I am working with our domain/hosting provider to relay our mail through their spam filters first, and then send it to our mail server.

Do I set their server's name (or IP address) in "Relay MTA for external delivery" and/or "Inbound SMTP host name" in Zimbra's Global settings?

Thanks for your help!

If they are only filtering Inbound for your domain then you should not need to set anything as they will just forward the SMTP traffic onto your ZCS MTA. If you wish to have outbound scanned aswell then you would set them up in "Relay MTA for external delivery".

Thank you, that makes sense.

I would like to whitelist the external spam filter server on our Zimbra server. I've read some about the process in the wiki, but I'm a little confused. Could someone please help simplify it, or help me understand?

Thanks.
