Maildir export from Zimbra

I am in the midst of migrating to Zimbra from a Dovecot/postfix environment using Maildirs. I currently have a bunch of scripts that run against the Maildirs to send automated responses and messages. I would like to bring this script over without (too much) modification and so I am using

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@example.com getRestURL "//?fmt=tgz" > /tmp/account.tgz

Unfortunately, the extracted files do not seem to be in a Maildir structure. Specifically, they do not use "."s to name directories and there are no "new" or "cur" directories.

Is there anyway to export in a "proper" Maildir structure?
