Default quota & external accounts

Hello,

When zimbra 5.0.10 has a quota (ex : 1Gb) on an account, and the user adds an external account (ex : a generic zimbra account that is shared between them), it seems that the quota is used for the sum of both accounts !

Example : I have foo@zimbra.com, quota 1Gb : account is at 900Mb.

I add the external account : whatever@zimbra.com quota 1Gb, account is at 300Mb.

900 + 300 > 1gb : boom ! can't access the external account...

This problem was discovered in 5.0.9 (just before we moved to 5.0.10).

Is there a way to change this ? or is it a bug or a feature ?

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

My guess is that the zimbra team thinks this is a feature. As far as I can tell they download the whole remote account and index it. I think that is a serious mistake and we have no choice but to turn off the feature. The quota usage is a problem, and the fact that the first sync can take hours or even days with the user having no idea what the problem is makes it worthless.

We are aware of the indexing etc.... but I don't get why the quota is applied to both accounts !

If I read you correctly you cant access the external account from the first one? What happens is that zimbra downloads a copy of the external account into your normal account and uses up your quota. So your 900+300 > 1GB quota. You shouldnt add the other account as an external account for the user. If both of them are on the same server, just share the mailbox.

Vlad edited after posting, so just to highlight if you've already read the email:

Might be interested in voting for: Bug 21089 - Mail: Imap external account: Need ability to select/deselect imap folders (There's probably a few others dealing with external account aggregation if you search bugzilla.)

Okay, so I've been going through the wiki & forums to share a mailbox :

I share "test" / folder to "myaccount"
zmmailbox -z -m test@domain.com mfg / account myaccount@domain.com rwidx

then I create a mountpoint in "myaccount"
zmmailbox -z -m myaccount@domain.com createMountpoint --view message "/testshare/" test@domain.com /

The account is now in "testshare". Problem is that I don't see any "root" folder mail "inbox, spam deleted...) but I do see mail in folders IN these folders

ex : INBOX/whatever : I see mail
INBOX : I just see the folders (whatever...)

I am close... but how close ?

I'm not sure I understand the problem correctly, but I sounds to me like you want to mount each folder by itself, not the root of all folders.
