Sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread.

i purged the amavis tmp directory, and wrote a script to do this on a daily basis, saving the last two days. this rid me of 20G of bloat!

not sure why all of a sudden the tmp dir started to fill up, but... i think its under control.

Thanks to all who helped. another case solved by Zimbra forums!
