    Default I did it again. . .

    So, I tried to upgrade from the GA 3.0.1 release to the dev 3.1.0 release.

    I forgot that I havn't exactly gotten the logger to work since I got to the 3.0.1. I eventually gave up and decided to quit pestering the forums.

    So, now I'm in a HUGE bind.

    I tried upgrading, and it failed because it couldn't start the logger, and exited abnormally.

    It's gone all down hill since then.

    Now, when I try to install it, it asks for a password, but none of myk passwords work.

    Anywho, I was wondering what logs I can post for help.

    And, is it possible to backup the essential data (which I belive is still there), and get rid of this botched install, and re-install/restore the data?

    Might just try to re-upgrade. Either way take a cold backup now. Ideally you took one before you started the first upgrade.

    First rule of dev testing, have a backup....

    I don't have a backup because i've always managed to upgrade relativly okay...

    ----------
    EDIT: I'm going to try and install using the previous stable build. Do you know if there are significant changes to the sql databases other than db.version?

    You are on FC3 right? Since your using the FC3 pkgs. Did you take a backup and try a reinstall?

    BTW: Is this your production system? :O)

    Yeah, so I'm stupid. Nope, I sure didn't. Yup. It's the production system. :S

    It really wasn't the dev build though. I should make that clear to others. The only reason the install failed is because of an existing problem.

    <-------------Me right now

    ---------------
    So, when I went to install the old build, it tries to restore the config file:
    HOSTNAME=tusd-exch01.tombstone.k12.az.us
    LDAPHOST=
    LDAPPORT=
    SNMPTRAPHOST=
    SMTPSOURCE=
    SMTPDEST=
    SNMPNOTIFY=0
    SMTPNOTIFY=0
    LDAPROOTPW=zimbra
    LDAPZIMBRAPW=zimbra
    which is obviously wrong. Should I try to edit the file and re-install?

    Re-import data

    So. . . . I have managed to get it up and running without uninstalling; however, all my accounts and stuff are/is gone.

    Is there any possible way to recover this? Is there any way we can hire someone to help?

    Hmmm do you have the data anywhere? Assuming you took a backup at some point you can reinstall a version that matches the backup then copy the data back into place.

    Hey,
    Goodmorning. I actually do. I have one 8 days ago, so I'm not in that bad of a situation.

    I'm having trouble getting tomcat to start (I'm trying various solutions in the forums).

    Mysql is okay.

    I'm not quite sure if it's going to let me pull the old data

    What I did was

    move my backup folder to a safe local
    uninstalled all versions of zimbra
    installed a version of zimbra that was the same as the backup
    replaced the new folder with the backup
    did another install/upgrade with the same version

    but that dumb tomcat won't start

    Any errors in the log? Check /opt/zimbra/tomcat/logs/catalina.out

    Nope, nothin. I thought it might be ther permissions bug, but that's not it. All catalina says is

    Nothing of any real consiquence, I think.

    Here's some good news, though: I can log in, and see all my e-mails. So the databases are still intact; however, I can't read them. I get an server error.
