[SOLVED] webmail slow to send

I am using my external (sendmail) smtp servers. With my current webmail solution, Apple Mail.app, Thunderbird, etc email is accepted quite quickly. However when sending via Zimbra Webmail it is taking 8-10 seconds before the message is being accepted. Or at least until webmail acknowledges it as being sent. It is being delivered immediately. Any suggestions on where I should be looking?

apparently it was my iptables rules. i added to accept explicitly from my smtp servers and now it is back to fast.
