Default How do others manage their linux local accounts and zimbra email accounts in sync?

Currently we have a NIS server setup for all of our Linux accounts and have Postfix setup for email also an IMAP server. I was thinking of converting to NIS+LDAP or just LDAP for local accounts. How are others managing login accounts across multiple systems like Zimbra? I have never use LDAP before so I am not familiar on how exactly it works.

If you are using PAM then you can look for a ldap/pam module. You just need to be familiar with Zimbra's ldap structure/schema.

Default External ldap server

We have Zimbra (and other systems) authenticate to an external openLDAP server.
