Message received to server - never goes to mailbox

I'm trying to subscribe to a mailman mailing list and it is attempting to send me a verification email. I see the email coming into the server and being passed by amivis - but the email neverends up in my mailbox. I see no other messages about it being rejected.

I'm very concerned that other mail could be being dropped. How can I find out where this email is going?

run mailq - see if it is stuck in the postfix queue because of LMTP not available, etc.

Also check grep that message-id header in the log file. Postfix should have two queue-ids for that message-id (one pre amavisd-new, one post).

Try also zmmsgtrace.

I tried mailq and it's a no-show.

It's been delivered via lmtp.

grep -i lmtp /opt/zimbra/log/zimbra.log around the time of delivery, see if you can see it written to disk.

You got any filters on this mailbox? You check the junk folder? You try using the search builder to grab all emails from the source domain?

Talk about difficult!!

I had a personal filter that was set to discard messages with OX in the subject (because I'm on the OpenXchange list and was too lazy to actually unsubscribe). This was catching bOXbackup in the subject and discarding the message.

So I lazy stupid user problem after all.

Well - at least I got to learn how to trace messages better!
