Default still no luck making trash go away....

If this the email retention policy option, I have it set for Trash (5days) and Spam (5Days), however trash is not going away, nor spam.

Was this for AFTER they empty trash/spam that this kicks in??

If so, my users never empty anything, so this won't help.

I am trying to have the server "empty their trash/spam" automatically at a preset day.

Please advise......... thanks so much

Servers-> server name-> General Information tab-> Sleep time between subsequent mailbox purges
This controls the delay between checking individual accounts. For example if you have 10 accounts and set the sleep time to 1 min it will scan through your users every 10 minutes (1 min delay between checking email boxes)
You might want to check that this isn't 0.

In the user settings (Or COS)-> Advanced tab-> Email retention policy is where the lifetimes of messages are set.

I have both Trashed message lifetime and spam message lifetime set to 30 days and 'Sleep time between subsequent mailbox purges' is set to 1 minute (in both server & global settings), but the spam emails are not being deleted out.

I've got email accounts which are now filling up, please help! Most of my clients log in via POP3, so they never clear out the SPAM or trash folders.

Do you see any lines like this in /opt/zimbra/mailbox.log?
Code:
2009-04-01 14:22:47,342 INFO [MailboxPurge] [name=user@domain.tld;mid=6;] mailop - Deleting items: 3403,3404,3406.

So...the messages are being deleted or not? Are the accounts filling up with messages that fall in the grace period before they are deleted automatically?

No, some of the emails date back months.

example log entry..

2009-04-07 19:47:27,740 INFO [MailboxPurge] [name=postmaster@xxxx.com;mid=85;] mailop - Deleting items: 1723.

(obviosuly added the xxx in to obscure the domain)

on my own account the spam goes back to 9th of March. - isn't spam supposed to be deleted after 5 days?
