Can Zimbra store email as a blob using an API storage call?

I'm trying to figure out if zimbra can store email as a blob instead of a file. Think in terms of cloud storage. The storage system can use SOAP and\or REST to communicate, but I can't figure out how to get zimbra to write to it.

It'd require a new StoreManager implementation and some general code cleanup (Bug 30550 – abstract out store interface again).
