Question Zimbra 4.5NE Mac Creating volumes in /Volumes

    Hello -

We recentlly upgraded our mail server with a Drobo for mail storage and after a restart, we lose all past messages. Checking around, I found that there are two volumes listed in /Volumes - "Drobo" and "Drobo 1".

It seems that Zimbra starts up immediately after a restart and the Drobo takes up to 25-30 seconds to be mounted due to its firmware/software. Since it is missing at Zimbra's startup time, I think Zimbra is creating the missing volume and disrupting the mounting of the true message store.

Is this possible? Can I delay Zimbras startup until all volumes are mounted or am I best off just changing the store location to an internal drive that mounts immediately?

    Thanks!

Apple's launchd doesn't really have the notion of dependacies like StartupItems did. The only thing I could recommend is to put a sleep statement into the launchd startup item, this will delay the startup a bit. The file you would need to modify is /opt/zimbra/libexec/zcs

On a separate note, have you done any benchmarks on the DROBO performance? What part of ZCS are you putting onto the array? The expansion capabilities of the DROBO look intriguing but it's a bit pricy for a small install and I'd be concerned about the performance for a mid size ZCS install. It would probably make a fantastic HSM volume.
