    Default Slow email delivery

We are experiencing an issue whereby some users are receiving emails after a very long time period. Mails are being sent via a PHP application.

I want to understand if what I am seeing is normal & expected.

Below is the message header for one such email (names changed to protect the innocent). It seems to me that it took 27 minutes for my server to send the email. Is that correct? Then it took the recipients mail system another
18 minutes to deliver the message to the inbox. Is that assumption correct?

And, if I'm correct, are there some obvious things that we can do to deliver email faster?

    Thanks for your (expert) eyes!
    Mike

you're going to get a lot more pertannent information from the mta logs on both the zimbra server and the server running the php application. are their clocks syncronized as well?

Yes the clocks are sync'd. So, are you saying that there does seem to be a problem and that I should confirm the delay in zimbra's mailbox.log?

Why do you think those messages show a delay? Unless I'm missing something obvious, the messages are all showing different timezones and appear to show a delivery time of 2.5 minutes from the first headers to the last one you posted. As bdial mentioned, you'll find full information in the log files or you can use zmmsgtrace.
