Default [SOLVED] domain is shutdown, cannot unlock

I was testing renaming domain name and aborted the zmprov -l rd in the middle of account move (accident). Now both old and new domains are in "shutdown" status. Some accounts were already moved to the new domain.

I don't seem to be able to change anything - not through command line, not through admin console.

I could I get out of this status?

You can see the status of the domain with: zmprov gd yourdomain.com | grep Status

What happens when you're doing this, any errors and if so, what? Are there any errors in the log files?

Which version of Zimbra is this? Please update your profile with the output of 'zmcontrol -v'

Since this is a test environment, I can afford to play with it.
I ended up to run the following on the ldap master (as zimbra)

    zmrestoreldap -lbs

Pick the latest full from the backup file list,

    zmrestoreldap -lb <full-lable-file>

That recovered the domain to active mode.

Ideally, one should be able to unlock the domain in "shutdown" mode. It could happen - in theory - when system crash during domain renaming operations.

My test domain seems getting back to normal service. This is the first time I use zmrestoreldap on a live system. Hope it is O.K.

I Ctl-C canceled the zmprov -l rd <old> new operation, which was a mistake. That left the two domains in "shutdown" mode, and the status is not changeble because of the "shutdown" mode:

    zimbraDomainStatus: shutdown

I try to fix it by zmprov md <domain> zimbraDomainStatus active, but got permission denied:

com.zimbra.common.service.ServiceException: permission denied: domain is shutdown

    We are running Release 5.0.8_GA.

The problem really is, once the domain renaming operation is interrupted, there seems no way to get out of it.

I ended up to restore the ldap from last full backup, but it would be really better to have way to unlock the domain (see my other post).
