| | | Stats stopped All:
I'm a newbie administrator of a Zimbra mail server running:
Release 5.0.4_GA_2101.UBUNTU6_64 UBUNTU6_64 FOSS edition
I have a pretty simple problem that I'm not sure how to fix. My stats service is not running. Output from zmcontrol is:
$ zmcontrol status
Host mail.somedomain.com
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Stopped
So my question is: is there a way to troubleshoot / start stats without restarting all the services with 'zmcontrol start' ? |

| | Why do you think it's not running? It looks like it is to me. Quote:

stats Stopped | If you think there's a problem then post more details from the log files, there's details on the logger here: Logger - Zimbra :: Wiki

| | | I guess I thought the stats were not running because of the line that says "stats Stopped". So maybe I have the stats service misunderstood. Is it normal for stats to be stopped?
Also, in the Admin console, I see this:
Server status data is not available. To see the server status, the logger service must be installed.
Now, that message seems self explanatory, but it seems to me that the logger service *is* installed and running per zmcontrol. Am I wrong?
Also very willing to post stuff from the logs. I have looked at each of them, and didn't see anything (with my untrained eye). If there is something I should be looking for, let me know and I will post it.
Thanks for your help, by the way. |

What do you get in the logs if you run the following: Code: su - zimbra
zmloggerctl stop
ps aux | grep zmlogger
kill any logger processes
zmloggerctl start Has this server been running OK until now?

| | | The server has been handling incoming / outgoing mails like a champ. However, recently, we've experienced random, slow load times from a web app that runs on the same box. So I am trying to determine whether it could be zimbra that is using resources (for things like processing a mailing list, or updating the logs, etc.) Basically trying to decide whether to separate the web server and zimbra onto their own boxes.
So, for the first time, I wanted to start looking at the stats. I've noticed that they haven't been updating for at least a month.
After stopping / starting zmloggercontrl, I don't see any new messages in mailbox.log. I look at the descriptions of the logs that you linked to, and I didn't see any others that would have messages. Is there another log that I should be looking at?
Also, rechecked zmcontrol status, and stats is still stopped. Also, the admin console displays the same message. |

| | If you wish to monitor the performance of Zimbra services then take a look at this wiki article - this will give you a more detailed view of the statistics that are collected by the logger.

| | ...... and back to your original question. What does the following file contain: /opt/zimbra/zmstat/zmstat.out - any errors in that?
