Default Mail Deferred, Re-queueing doesnt work...

    Hello All,

We've seen a strange trend with our ZCS implementation, and im wondering if anyone could shed some light on it...

Every few weeks or so it seems like mail transport gets "stuck". ie: i had 58 messages in the deferred queue this morning, but some messages are getting through. Re-queueing them this morning didnt do the trick, although it has in the past. Anyone have any idea where I could start the search?

We're running 5.0.4 FOSS edition in a relatively small environment.

    Thanks!
    Jon

Have a look in the log files for any clues and see if all the services are running plus, when this happens, see if your DNS still resolves the Zimbra server.

Thanks for the quick response, Im rebooting the box now. DNS still resolves to the IP of the mail server. Ill check the log files as soon as the box comes up.

In another (probably) related event, I got an error sending mail from the ajax client. Ill post that as well when it comes back up.

poking around the logs a little, the MTA is complaining about being on a RBL. I check the IP with a RBL checker and it comes up clean. We had this problem not too long ago because of our tagged time warner IP group being mass blacklisted.

Possibly this is some leftover fallout from that mess. In any case, rebooting the server seems to bring mail transport inbound and locally back online. We still have messages in the queue for delivery but they seem to be messages sent to select hosts that are reporting us on a RBL (even though its clean).

Strange issue, ill give it some time for the hosts in question to refresh before I post again.

    PS, thanks again!

OK, let us know how your investigation goes and post again if there's still a problem.

As a followup, everything seems to be good (at the moment). I speculate our issue is related to our migration strategy anyhow. Again thanks for the quick responses.

Ill post in a new thread if we continue to have this problem post-migration.
