Default [SOLVED] Local system mails to root are bounced

    Hi guys,
I installed this great piece of software some days ago on a clean Debian 4.0 box.
I edited the /etc/aliases file to have my mail address in there (which is also hosted by Zimbra on the same box) to receive root's mail (cron jobs, raid monitor etc.).
Whenever I try to send a mail to root@server.domain.tld it gets bounced with the message "mail loops back to myself".
If I send a message from "the outside", e.g. from another server to root then the mail is delivered correctly.

What is the correct way to set an alias for root which gets delivered to a local account?

Please help me, it is the only gap which keeps me from using Zimbra in a production environment.

    Thanks!

A search of the forums for 'mail loops back to myself' will find all the answers you need.

Ok, my mistake. I should have written that I already did:
    - check dns configuration (host is stewie.xm1.de, so you can check for yourself)
    - change MTA from localhost to stewie.xm1.de

    What else can I do?
I just want to have "root" mails delivered to my primary mail account "user@otherdomain.de".

    Thanks!

    I solved it.
zmprov ms stewie.xm1.de zimbraMtaMyDestination 'localhost localhost.xm1.de stewie stewie.xm1.de'

    and
    zmmtactl stop && zmmtactl start

did the trick. Thanks and sorry for asking too early ;-)

    Great software!
