[SOLVED] Gal not working

Using ZCS 5.0.4 OSS on SLES10 SP1. We have auth setup and working and are trying to get the gAL from AD working. Here are our settings when walking throught the web ui admin GAL config:
1) Server Type - Active Directory
2) External Server Name - ldap://dns.name.here:3268 (AD server)
3) ldap search string - dc=friestedt,dc=com
4) Use DN/Password to bind to external server - checked with admin DN and admin email
5) Use GAL search settings for GAL is checked.
6) GAL sync setting - search setting

The "test" is successful but no results are returned. I have tried LDAP, different ldap search strings and different ports for AD. Tests are good but no results. I have also reviewed

Can some kind soul help me get the GAL working?

I am having the same problem. At the end of the wizard, I get successful notifications, but never get any GAL items in my search. I am currently using the same AD to do external authentication and it works fine.

I also tried the command
/opt/zimbra/bin/zmprov sg domain.com username
That I saw in another post, but it returns nothing. No error or info - just goes to the next prompt.

When I begin to type the name in the to field, it says "Waiting on GAL" but never brings anything up.

I used the "similar threads" area below to find the following thread: GAL not working with Active Directory

I changed my GAL setting to use (per post 5):

(&(|(cn=%s*)(sn=%s*)(gn=%s*)(mail=%s*))) in the LDAP filter
(|(cn=%s*)(sn=%s*)(gn=%s*)(mail=%s*)) as the auto complete filter (default)

This made the GAL work! I was able to find my name and email address!

I will continue testing with these settings to verify that it is all good.

Now to figure out how to limit the search to only users with a populated email.......

Thanks TechNinja......This did work. However, i had to change from AD GAL to LDAP GAL and then enter in the ldap filter and autocomplete filter. Now i can see contacts from AD. Thanks!
