    Default [SOLVED] Inexplicably out of disk space

    Hi, something has devoured all the disk space last night. Normally there should be at least a couple hundred gigabytes free. This morning, I deleted older backups and old log files, but no matter what I delete, df still reports 0 bytes available. "zmcontrol start" claims to start Zimbra, but "zmcontrol status" shows only ldap, spell and stats running, so I cannot examine accounts using zmprov and zmmailbox.

    Where do I go from here?

    Thanks for any suggestions. I'm in a bit of a panic.

    Zimbra v5.0.6 Network Edition 64-bit
    Red Hat EL 4 64-bit

    ThorGoLucky,

    Since I ran into this myself recently I can understand your panic. First check all your logs to ensure nothing has gone wild writing entries. Also you might run du -s -h * to see where your space is getting used.

    In my case a scheduled rsync job to a USB device had failed to mount the device and instead dumped everything into the target directory of the mount filling that partition. I added some code to that script to verify the mount prior to the rsync to prevent future problems.

    Good luck!

    Bob

    Ah ha, that was exactly my problem. I fixed the backup script to make sure that the share is properly mounted:

    Code:
    if [ $( mount | grep -c '/mnt/backup ' ) == "1" ]; then
    Thanks!
