Hi folks,
I have little problem with the Zimbra GAL. First of all I am gonna
describe how I set up our user accounts:
Example user:
Accountname:
firstname@zimbra.ourcompany.com
Alias1:
lastname@ourcompany.biz
Alias2:
lastname@ourcompany.com
The base mail addresses (accountname) are NOT supposed to be used as an
e-mail address at all. Those are in our case just for the login. Our standard domain
is zimbra.ourcompany.com, so the users can login with their firstname, since
the standard domain is attached to the login name.
So far so good, everything works fine.
Our problem is now, that the users are listed with their accountname
(fistname@zimbra.ourcompany.com) in the GAL, e.g. within Outlook. This
confuses our users a lot, so we really need to change this behavior.
What we would like to do is to have the users real mail address shown in
the GAL. This would be
lastname@ourcompany.com
I found the attribute "
zimbraMailDeliveryAddress" in the Zimbra LDAP
structure and changed it like described above to
lastname@ourcompany.com.
This changed the entry in the GAL but the problem was, that after I
changed the attribute (couple of minutes later) I couldn't log in
anymore with
firstname@zimbra.ourcompany.com.
It was just possible to login using one of the alias mail addresses.
The LDAP attribute seems to be related somehow to the login.
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the mail address shown in the GAL without affecting the userlogin?
Would be glad about an answer
Cheers,
