Default IM log and offline messages

Well, although it's still not officially available, I am still curious about :

1. Can ZCS log all the IM communication log (for security reason)?

2. Is it possible to send offline message to someone when he's not
online?

Thanks.

1. Bug 21761 - Legal intercept support: IM
Vote for this, maybe they will implement it faster

2. The IM System used by Zimbra is XMPP which supports offline messaging, so yes it's possible to send a message to somebody who is offline and they will get it when logging in.

As a related note to 2... if a user logs into the IM service from the web client they will show as online for quite a while after closing the web interface, even if they click the Log Out link.
