    I've already told you what the problem is, you need to fix your /etc/hosts file as per the documentation and you also need to fix your DNS. Follow the documentation and you'll be able to fix the problems.

    hi

    very very thanks for your valuable supports.

    i think i correctly configure split DNS and /etc/hosts file

    i am using open suse 10.2 and zimbra 5.0

    my dns configuration is

    #vim /etc/named.conf

    options {
    directory "/var/lib/named";
    };
    zone "email.mobi.in" {
    type master;
    file "mobi.in.zone";
    };

    #vim /var/lib/named/mobi.in.zone
    $TTL 1W
    @ IN SOA mobi.in. root (
    42 ; serial (d. adams)
    2D ; refresh
    4H ; retry
    6W ; expiry
    1W ) ; minimum

    @ IN NS 10.100.0.250
    @ IN A 10.100.0.250
    @ IN MX 10 email.mobi.in.

    my " /etc/hosts " file

    #vim /etc/hosts

    #
    # hosts This file describes a number of hostname-to-address
    # mappings for the TCP/IP subsystem. It is mostly
    # used at boot time, when no name servers are running.
    # On small systems, this file can be used instead of a
    # "named" name server.
    # Syntax:
    #
    # IP-Address Full-Qualified-Hostname Short-Hostname
    #

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    # special IPv6 addresses
    ::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

    fe00::0 ipv6-localnet

    ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix
    ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes
    ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters
    ff02::3 ipv6-allhosts
    10.100.0.250 email.mobi.in email

    #host `hostname`

    email.mobi.in has address 10.100.0.250
    email.mobi.in mail is handled by 10 email.mobi.in.
    i think all the configurations are correct.

    pls tell me where is the problem and how to correct.

    what all i want is i want to send mails to " admin@mobi.in" not to "admin@email.mobi.in"

    how to do this

    This line is incorrect:
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    it should read:
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    Have you reinstalled, did you change the domain name when installing?

    You check you DNS with the following commands:

    Code:
    dig mobi.in mx
    dig mobi.in any

    You have the option of notifying Zimbra of your installation.
    This helps us to track the uptake of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite.
    The only information that will be transmitted is:
    The VERSION of zcs installed (5.0.6_GA_2313_openSUSE_10.2)
    The ADMIN EMAIL ADDRESS created (admin@email.mobi.in)

    The problem is you have no A or MX records for the domain mobi.in - you need to create them for this to work. You have created the DNS records for the FQDN of your server email.mobi.in - that's incorrect for your configuration.

    so how to change domain name during installation.
    The installation will only ask you for the domain name change during the first install on a server that has no Zimbra already installed, you can uninstall zimbra then run the iinstall again and it should ask you for the domain name - you can also create the default domain name later. The problem you keep encountering is the fact that you are not creating the DNS records for the domain - your domain name is mobi.in not email.mobi.in (that's the FQDN of your server). Fix that by following the Split DNS instructions, they are straightforward to follow.

    If you have any large log files to post then please don't post them to the forums, you should add them as an attachment.
