Post migration from one server to another

Hi,

I am migrating opensource zimbra 4.5.10 from one physical box to another physical box

older zimbra details

server hostname:abc.in
zimbra hostname:abc.in
cleint for which zimbra is setup: abc.in (domain name)
while setting up zimbra hostname taken default as a machine hostname

New zimbra details

server hostname:mummail01
zimbra hostname :abc.in
put all the entry as abc.in while setting up zimbra

BUt when i copy /opt/zimbra to new machine and start zimbra

zmcontrol status is giving tomcat is not running.

what wiil be the problem ??????

Are the UID/GIDs of the Zimbra user the same ? Did you perform a dummy install of ZCS, then remove /opt/zimbra, and then copy you existing installation across ? Ensure the permissions on /opt/zimbra are correct, and it would not harm to run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms as root aswell. Have you read this Moving ZCS to New Server - Zimbra :: Wiki ?

But here, hostname are different but zmhostname are same

what to do in that case.

Why not change the hostname to the old server then ? Will you new server need to take over the originals IP address aswell ?

Please review the wiki article link I posted. One point in it states

Hi,

Ipaddress of new server is different, but i need to keep hostname of the server different and do migration.

I had try that but after starting zimbra, tomcat service is not running

How we can do that ?????

ZmSetServerName - Zimbra :: Wiki

You need to ensure that DNS is all working fine aswell with respect to MX/A records.
