Width of Identities Box Overtaking Subject

Is there any way to change the way the strings are generated on the drop down box for selecting an identity when composing an e-mail?

I have a user who is running Internet Explorer using 1024x768, and because the identity strings contain both the name of the identity, the name, and the e-mail address, all in a lower resolution, the subject box gets really short.

Yes, I went out of my way to make the name really long for the example.

Is it possible to make it return just the name of the persona, perhaps? Or else move the identity drop down box below the subject? I'm not sure exactly what string the user has there, but it's making composing emails somewhat awkward for him.

It seems to me the logical place to put this select box would be directly above the To line where one would normally expect to find a From line.
