    Default IE6+Win2K

    Hello!

I'm getting some strange behaviors when using Zimbra 5.0.5 in IE6(SP1)/Win2K.

The first time I log into ajax interface everything goes well, but if I logout and try to login again I get a javascript error telling me that "AjxHistoryMgr" is not defined. It stucks at loading screen.

Unfortunately the majority of the users uses this browser. I thought maybe the simple HTML interface would be the solution for those users, but I'm getting another problem with that. When composing new e-mail, the textbox seems to be locked or readonly, nothing can be written there. It only works when I switch to HTML editing.

I'm studying Zimbra to be adopted in our company and it's very likely that it works well with that browser.

Is there any workaround for those issues?

    Thank you a lot!

Internet Explorer SP2 is the minimum required version as mentioned in the System Requirements Documentation.

There is no IE6SP2 for Win2k. So, if I want to use Zimbra in this Operating System I need to ask our users to use Firefox instead?

Maybe a simple workaround for the textbox issue would be the solution to those users as they migrate to WinXP or Vista.

I'd suggest using FF as it gives a far better experience than IE6.

Yeah, that would be my personal favorite solution, but we have some old systems here that still require IE to run. :/

I don't want to ask our users to use one browser for Zimbra and other to other solutions.

I'll try to create a COS that limits Zimbra to work in IE6SP1.

    Bug 24378

IE6 on 2000 just doesn't work. It seems to me since IE6 still has 65% of the browser market they would fix it. They may not be able to since they switched to Jetty. I don't remember this problem on Tomcat but I could be wrong.

If you can't use FF for all your users then I'd suggest adding a vote to the bug Bug 24378 - Windows 2000 and IE6 we are looking at the problem.
