I've googled around, and checked the wiki, but have not found any discussion on whether or not you can do group IM chats on community version, or if it can only do peer to peer????

I would like to know about that feature aswell. Not being able to make 2+ people discussion in IM is quite a constraint.
But if the IM is still in BETA, I hope we'll see that feature soon

I can't vote on the bugs. Keeps telling my username/password are wrong.

Since Zimbra uses the Jive Instant Messaging software, you can use any Jabber compatible IM client to do things like broadcast, group discussions etc. We use Kopete, Gaim and the Jive client (for Windows) - it works great.
But how can you do it within the webmail and without having to install specific software ?
I have the same question as Kaltera... how can group/conference messaging and broadcasts be done from within the standard zimbra interface?
I was able to get broadcasts using Spark instant messenger, however I didn't have any success with pidgin (formerly "gaim"). What's the trick?
