Default Remote calendar that requires basic authentication

Hi,
I'm having trouble using a remote icalendar with zimbra. The problem is that access to the calendar requires the client to authenticate itself using Apache's basic authentication.

I get this error:
"Error parsing calendar"

I can access the calendar with no problems when the authentication requirement is removed.

The ical file is being served by subversion, btw. Other clients such as KOrganizer can read/write to the file successfully even when authentication is on.

Just wanted to alert the developers to this.

Yes this will be fixed in the next release. URL's can now include a user/pass like

http://userass@somehost.com/ical.ics

Is there a way of doing it so that the user/pass doesn't get sent in cleartext? A prompt like the internet browsers do?

My impression of https is that the data sent gets encrypted but not the URI itself.

Another question: is the ical file downloaded by the zimbra server or by the client's browser?

Thanks for everything.

You will get prompted if you just go to the .ics file in a browser. You just need to embed the user/pass for an application or program to access the ical data. The ics is pulled by the server and cached.

Which release was this going to be fixed in? I just tried 3.1.0_GA_279, and I still get the same "Error parsing calendar."
