Default [SOLVED] Best upgrade practice

I'm in a single server environment and every time I upgrade to the latest release it takes about half an hour to update all components keeping the mail server down.

Is there any way to improve the speed of the upgrade process or upgrade keeping the mta running?

Ciao

No, there is no method to keep the MTA running during an upgrade.

No, there's really nothing you can do to improve the speed. The upgrade has a lot of work to do checking database file, removing & installing the software etc. In a single server environment you are stuck with some downtime.

any suggestion to setup a multiple server env?

I'm running on bmware the zimbra mail server and I could setup a secondary server for mta.

Is there any documentation?

I consider that having a seconday MTA is mandatory.

It's not just about upgrading, it's about having your incoming emails safe.

It's even better if your secondary MTA is somewhere else (your ISP, another collocation site, etc) : if your primary MTA looses internet access, your secondary one should still have it.

What's bmware or do you mean VMware? Documentation for Multi-Server install on the Documents page
