    Default Custom Authentication

    Hello,

I want to autheticate user/password against my RDBMS database.

    1. How can i go about it?

    2. Do i need to update the source code and rebuild the zimbra server?

    3. In the Admin Panel under domains i see Configure Authentication - but it has options only for internal/external ldap/active directory. I don't want to authenticate against any directory service internal or external; but against a user table in my RDBMS database.

Please advice. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I saw some minimal documentation available here:
http://www.zimbra.com/docs/ne/latest..._LDAP.5.1.html - but is is not very clear.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the forums

Unfortunately I do not believe you can do it directly via ZCS, but you could take a look at this Using OpenLDAP with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Backend Databases

Default Custom Auth section in the admin guide

    Hi uxbod,

Please see the "Custom Authentication" section in this URL
    http://www.zimbra.com/docs/ne/latest..._LDAP.5.1.html

It seems to suggest that one can write their custom authentication class. But the documentation is very minimal, so i am not able to follow it.

    Please advice.

    Thankyou

You learn something new everyday Personaly, as I cannot write Java aswell, I would use a external LDAP with SQL support.
