Default External Account as Primary

Is there a way to have external accounts as the primary accounts? Or a way to move the primary account below an external account?

My institution is testing out Zimbra. We would like to have users just see their current mail folders from our external mail server, not the local folders.

Also, is there a way to setup external accounts from command line?

Thanks,

I am unable to see a way to make your external account the Primary, but perhaps resolve the approach via a different method say by using fetchmail ?

I have looked at zmprov and cannot see a way to add a external account via the CLI.

I would also be interested to see if this is possible from somebody more knowledgeable.

Using an external account you can set it to store the email in the users Inbox. For creating external accounts from the command line use
Code:
zmprov createDataSource
and
Code:
zmprov help commands
will give you the syntax.

Bill,

I did
Code:
zmprov help account
and saw the datasource option with the syntax
Code:
 createDataSource(cds) {name@domain} {ds-type} {ds-name} [attr1 value1 [attr2 value2...]]
but what goes in the fields ?

I did a quick search but could not find anything Perhaps, if an when time allowing, some additional examples could be added to the WiKi

Thanks.

The easiest thing to do is create an external account and then
Code:
zmprov gds account@domain.com
to give you a list of the fields.

Hi Bill,

I have set one up
Code:
[zimbra@office ~]$ zmprov gds uxbod@xxxxxx.net
# name Test External
# type imap
objectClass: zimbraDataSource
objectClass: zimbraImapDataSource
zimbraDataSourceConnectionType: ssl
zimbraDataSourceEmailAddress: xxxxxx@gmail.com
zimbraDataSourceEnabled: TRUE
zimbraDataSourceFolderId: 52121
zimbraDataSourceHost: imap.gmail.com
zimbraDataSourceId: a62ae026-e0f2-4a78-9312-df8ff3b6b383
zimbraDataSourceName: Test External
zimbraDataSourcePollingInterval: 0
zimbraDataSourcePort: 993
zimbraDataSourceUsername: xxxxxxxx@gmail.com
zimbraPrefFromAddress: uxbod@xxxxxx.net
zimbraPrefFromDisplay: UxBoD
I presume zimbraDataSourceId and zimbraDataSourceFolderId are the ones that are not required as they will be allocated by ZCS ? Are you able to specify the password for the account from the command line ?
