Default Anyone use Munin with Zimbra

So just yesterday I was playing around with Munin a little bit and found it to offer quite a nice view of what's happening with the server.

So I installed it on the zimbra server, expecting things to 'just work' and so far, nothing. I've barely started just yet, but I've searched the forums for 'munin' and found nothing at all, so I figured I'd start a thread.

Has anyone used Munin with Zimbra, has anyone setup a group of rules to specifically monitor Zimbra with it?

Dirk,

not used Munin myself, but have been thinking of how multiple Zimbra nodes could be monitored. Currently I would favour towards trying to get Zenoss working with it as it offers a more extensive framework.

Perhaps one of the ZM developers/ZM mods could answer whether any of the information in the Admin GUI, statistics wise is available by SOAP or by any other means ?

Regards,

Munin almost works out of the box with Zimbra server v5, you just need to activate the postfix_* plugins, and change the spooldir variable in postfix_mailqueue to /opt/zimbra/postfix/spool/

I haven't tried getting amavis and spamassassin monitoring to work yet, but you just need to remember that all zimbra stuff is placed in /opt/zimbra

Edit: you can get a plugin to monitor amavis here: MuninExchange
in /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/munin-node you need to put
Code:
[amavis-debian]
user root
group adm

its easy with fedora:

yum -y install munin munin-node

mkdir /opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/webapps/zimbra/munin/opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/webapps/zimbra/munin

chown munin:munin /opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/webapps/zimbra/munin

vi /etc/munin/munin.conf

change this line: /var/www/munin

to this: htmldir /opt/zimbra/apache-tomcat-5.5.15/webapps/zimbra/munin

Finally do this: service munin-node start && chkconfig munin-node on

and goto yourserver.com - Your Your Server Source

You may have to wait upto 5 min for the cron job to run before it works.

Default zimbra et hyperic

salut,
j'ai un serveur hyperic qui supervise un serveur zimbra . il a détécté tous les services sauf zimbra 5.0 ,MySQL Stats 5.0.x et OpenLDAP 2.3.x
l'erreur qu'il affiche pour zimbra:
General Log and Config Track Properties

* Enable Log Tracking - Check to enable log tracking.
* Track event log level - Only track events of level greater than or equal to this level. Order is: [Error, Warn, Info, Debug]
Mapping:
o FATAL,ERROR -> Error
o WARN -> Warn
o INFO -> Info
o DEBUG -> Debug
* Log Pattern Match - Include messages that match the given regular expression. The given pattern can be a substring to look for in log messages or a regular expression. See: java.util.regex.Pattern.
* Log Pattern Exclude - Exclude messages that match the given regular expression.
* Log Files - Comma delimited list of log files to track. Relative files are resolved to /opt/zimbra.

l'erreur qu'il affiche pour mysql:
Configure MySQL 5.0.x for Monitoring

The MySQL 5.0.x plugin monitors the MySQL server using standard status queries. The only prerequisites for enabling monitoring are:

* The configured mysql has the ability to connect to the MySQL server specified by the jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306
* The user root is able to execute the following statements: 'SHOW GLOBAL STATUS', 'SHOW SLAVE STATUS' (minimal privileges needed: SELECT, REPLICATION CLIENT)
* To enable full process monitoring of the MySQL daemon the agent user must either own the process or have permissions to view all process stats.

l'erreur qu'il affiche pour OpenLDAP 2.3.x:
Configure OpenLDAP 2.3.x for Monitoring
In order to obtain the OpenLDAP statistics from the slapd daemon,
openldap must be built with configure --enable-monitor.
After this is done, and OpenLDAP is deployed, to configure monitoring
this line needs to be added to slapd.conf:
database monitor
It must be added before or after all databases are defined.
For more information on monitoring slapd see:
Monitoring Slapd
Without this, Hyperic HQ will still monitor OpenLDAP but the statistics are very limited.

comment puis-je resourdre ce probleme!!!!!!
s'il vous plait me répondre le plus tot possible
merci d'avance

DarkFox, the user has kindly posted how to monitor MySQL and OpenLDAP. They have actually translated most of it already

Thanks for your explaination, it just annoys me greatly when someone starts posting in their native language on an international forum.

Hvis jeg nu begyndte at skrive på dansk, ville alle andre jo også blive irriteret over at de ikke kan forstå hvad fanden jeg skriver.

(Translation: If I started writing in danish, everyone else would be annoyed that they can't understand what I'm writing too.)
