    Question Default Calendar

    Hi all!

On my company, our HR defined a official event calendar for our business (holidays, events, etc).

Is it possible to define an "universal" shared calendar/agenda? e.g. Beside the user calendar, a corporate caledar? I mean, when you create a user, automatically subscribe him to the company calendar?

We've done similar, but we just sent an email to everyone telling them how to add the shared calendar to their account. Of course, this does not guarentee that people actually will :/

Having a company calendar that always appears for all users, (or based on a CoS) may be a good idea.

I'm sure there's a way to script something using soap that would add the share to a list of users or all users, that you could run when needed or on a cron, but I cant help much with writing that It may be worth filing a feature request though, as a corportate calendar is a good idea.

I've got a system set up here at work that sets up accounts, and adds calendars/contacts/shared email to them. I use SSH keys and run scripts to provision them. If I were to learn SOAP then I could probably do better, but this works great for now.

A related-but-slightly-different question: having created a shared calendar, is there a way to make it the default calendar (so new appointments a user creates are added to that shared calendar by default).

Similarly, if a shared address book is created, can that be set as the default?

    Workarounds include:

Have the admin log on multiple times, as a different user for each web browser (IE, Safari, Firefox).

Use iCal or Outlook former requires Network Edition or Leopard client; latter requires NE and Outlook license).

Re: bug 11627, I don't understand why this feature appears to have had work done on it, then it was removed back in 2009, yet the bug is still showing as assigned. What is the issue? Why can't we just have a preference allowing the user to specify which calendar they would like all new entries to be added to? This is a daily annoyance for many of our users.

If there is some workaround, please let me know!
