Question T-bird / Lightning and Free / Busy info

Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I'm looking for a simple answer - can Lightning view Free / Busy information? I have Lightning working with both iCal and CalDAV and can create, edit remove appointments but I cannot view Free / Busy information even of my own user.

Thanks for any help or pointers

Geoff

REPORT request needs to be made to the calendar collection, such as

REPORT /dav/<user>/Calendar

PUT request with VFREEBUSY needs to be made to the Send folder

PUT /dav/<user>/Sent

REST request is made to user servlet.

GET /home/<user>/Calendar?fmt=ifb&start=...&end=...

Question

Hi,

Thank you for that but I'm not sure what to do with it though?

Does that mean T-bird + Lightning can or can't view Free / Busy information?

Thumbs up

bump for unresolved

I haven't been able to find any info on free/busy access for any client other than Outlook or the Web Client.

I'm sure there are others who would like to solve this. Evolution's calendar support for Zimbra (or vice versa) stinks since the calendar is read-only. T-bird/Lightning is great in that calendars are read/write but free/busy information would be really good.

Any Zimbra employees care to help out with this?

Thanks,
Clay

In the latest release of Lightning (0.9), Free/Busy does work with Zimbra. Create new calendar in Lightning, choose CalDAV as type, and for location enter http://<username>@<server>/dav/<username>/Calendar

Yes, you enter the same username twice.

(The only real issue I've found with Lightning is that you can't modify your calendar when working offline.)

I should amend the above: Lightning also sends meeting information (invitations/revisions/replies) only as email attachments, rather than through CalDAV. I recently compiled information on this for another forum, so I might as well share it here.

See Nabble - Mozilla - Calendar - Caldav
Also Calendar Weblog: Bruno's developer notes: CalDAV Scheduling Needs You!
And Calendar Weblog: Lightning 0.9 and Sunbird 0.9 are out!
The Rumbling Edge :: Sunbird 0.9 Released (list of bugfixes and enhancements in 0.9)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409921 (discusson of CalDAV sched support--nixed for 0.9)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452610 (decision to disable CalDAV sched for 0.9)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454998 (notwithstanding lack of CalDAV sched, Free/Busy *is* supported in 0.9)

For reference, when I write "caldav-sched", I mean http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/...v-sched-06.txt

Technically, Free-Busy is part of caldav-sched, but the Mozilla folks refer to them separately, basically because they've got FB working but not the other parts. They apparently hope to get the rest working in Thunderbird 3.0 (which will integrate Lightning by default).
