When I create a distribution list I only get the mail delivered for the internal mailboxes.
i cannot do something like webmaster@mydomain.com -> cleverguy@external.com
Can this be a deliberate thing or is there something I should check in my setup?

Hmm
Dist lists should work for external addresses as well.
Can you look at /var/log/zimbra.log for any errors or bounces?
Hello,
We are having the same issue. Anybody know what the fix for this is?
Thanks much!
Kathy
A 'me too' post doesn't really give much to hgelp you diagnose the problem. How about starting with the Zimbra version, update your user profile (don't post it in this thread)with the output of the following:
As was asked earlier, what errors do you see in the log files?Code:su - zimbra zmcontrol -v
Regards
Bill
Thanks Bill for getting back to me so quickly. We just converted to the latest, greatest version of Zimbra over the weekend and are noticing some issues. I am not the Zimbra admin but they are so swamped I thought I'd see if there was anything I could do to help.
As I re-read the initial post it may not be excactly what we are experiencing. What is happening is Distribution lists are receiving internal email but are not receiving any external mail. The error that we see when we track an external mail sent to a distribution list is 5 50 5.1.1 No such user in here (in reply to RCPT TO command)).
Forwarding addresses, as well, receive mail sent from internal senders, however, they don't receive any mail sent from external email addresses.
Email accounts will and alias receive any email addressed to the alias address.
I know it's not the log file but does it give you any clues as to what is going on?
Thanks, Kathy
Hi,
Just to let you know it must be something with our mail setup. We had to put an alias for the distribution list with a slightly different prefix.
Thanks for your help!
Kathy
