Default Multi domain Zimbra Server?

Hi,

I'm wondering whether Zimbra can handle several domain or not on a single installation.

My company hosts several domain with their mail account, and i'd like to know if it would be tricky to have all my user be using Zimbra.

Also, I've a running postfix server that handle all these mail accounts. And i'd like to know if Zimbra can just use the existing postfix server or maybe is it just possible to change user_accout@localhost to user_account@zimbra_server in my virtual map file would be enough to make it work (yes... i'm an eyed wide open dreamer )

Thanks for any help.

You can configure Zimbra to accept mail for multiple domains. As far as using a separate MTA, the Quick Start Installation guide gives you this advice:

"You cannot have any other web server, database, LDAP, or MTA server
running, when you install the Zimbra software. If you have installed any of the
applications, before you install Zimbra software, disable these applications."

I was thinking of installing zimbra on a dedicated server.

Keep my current server running as the default MX for all domains, but in my virtual file, make postfix to deliver mail not locally but ton the zimbra dedicated server.

Like that, there is only a minor change on my configuration file (so, my perl script too...)

do you know where i can actually find the documentation about how to configure zimbra for multiple domain.

One more question : in this case, are the users of one domain aware of the existence of another... It won't be a big deal if so... but i'd rather not

Thanks,
Paquerette.

Default domain coexistence

domain coexistence

As to your last question - the domains can be separate - the GAL is per-domain, so one domain won't show up in another domain's search.
