Attached is a little python program I wrote to convert the exported address books from either thunderbird (v1.0.7) or squirrelmail (1.4.4) to a Zimbra format. It is a pretty simple little program, with only minimal checking/cleaning, but it seems to work pretty well for me. Hopefully it will be usefull to someone else.

p.s. the extension is .txt so it will upload to this message board. For best results change it to .py, and under windows (and Linux) make sure to run it as follows:
python csv_conversion.py s squirrel_export.csv zim_import.csv

Thanks for the starter - it was of great help. I added a couple of fields in the thunderbird conversion (mobile, email2 and so forth).

CSV is correct. To get the format (easy way) is just create a contact in a Zimbra test account with all the fields you are interested in. Export that contact then use that as a template for your imports. If that doesn't work let us know and we'll take a look. If you could post the CVS file then we can use it as a test case on our side.

The scripts are not an option for our user community. We created a simple csv file for Thunderbird 2.x that has one contact. Users can import this new address book with one entry. The entry is actually the Zimbra csv field names.

Once imported this new card can be copied to any address book. After this card is in the address book you export from Thunderbird as you would normally. Then open your csv file, remove the original headers & move the fake address to the top and now you can import into Zimbra. I expect this can be duplicated with any mail client...

It is by far the easiest way to solve the addressbook problem from just about any mail client.

imapsync will not be able to authenticate to ZCS until you Enable clear text login for the IMAP service.
You can set that option under Global Settings > IMAP in zimbraAdmin.

Newer versions of imapsync include --authmech options where you can set which login type to use. There's also --ssl options.

The version we have is 1.182. Works like a charm. Just migrated my 600 MB mailstore from our webmail server (running Cyrus) to our Zimbra server (running 5.0rc2).

The following should work (IIRC):

zmprov sm user@domain gru /contacts.csv > somefile.csv
zmprov sm user@domain gru /calendar.ics > somefile.ics

to import back in:

zmprov sm user@domain.com pru /contacts.csv somefile.csv
zmprov sm user@domain.com pru /calendar.ics somefile.ics

There are many solutions for migration wizard. A web search turned up a few links that may be a starting point. In some cases it is required to transfer mailboxes from one imap server to server.
