Question [SOLVED] zmmtaconfig.log over 5GB in size

    Hi,

While looking at our Zimbra installation (Release 4.5.10_GA_1575.RHEL4_20071117152457 CentOS4 FOSS edition) in more detail lately, I found out that our /opt/zimbra/log/zmmtaconfig.log is over 5GB in size. When I looked at the end of the log file I see the following repeating ever two minutes:

/opt/zimbra/bin/zmclamdctl status norewrite returned 0000:Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Service imapproxy is not enabled. Skipping perdition
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section antivirus did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section antispam did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section mta did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section sasl did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section webxml did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section mailbox did not change skipping
Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Section perdition did not change skipping
    Thu Feb 28 15:05:58 2008 Sleeping for 120.

Is there something that I can do to stop these messages from being entered in the log file? We don't use the imapproxy as you can see by the fact that it is not enabled. Is there any harm to deleting this log file? If not, I assume that I can shutdown Zimbra, delete the file and then start Zimbra back up?

    Thanks for the help!

    Default

You can safely delete the logfile.
I wouldn't be surprised if some entries in it are leftover from when you were on versions 4.5.6 & prior.
4.5.7+ lowered the log intensity level: Bug 18445 - zmmtaconfig default loglevel is set to high (essentially line 55ish of /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmmtaconfig got changed from 5 to 3.)
5.0.x added log rotation: Bug 10398 - clean up logging for swatch, zmmtaconfig
