As far as I can tell, it seems to forward before it runs the spam and virus filter. I can't figure out a way to only forward messages that aren't spam yet. Is there anyway to do this?
Yow. Well, here's the high level problem I'm having - I currently forward my mail to my blackberry BIS account. Unfortunately, this means that all the spam goes to the blackberry too. I was hoping that by using forwarding via filters, this would be avoided, but it apparently isn't. Is there anyway around this situation?
Why don't you use IMAP from Blackberry to connect to Zimbra? (instead of forwarding your emails to another account)
You can subscribe only to the folders you want.

Indeed, but the Blackberry doesn't natively support IMAP (I can have the BIS account check my mail server... but then it's polling. If I forward mail to the BIS account, I effectively get push mail).
I'm going to try to see if adding a subject prefix will help filtering...
Oh sorry, I didn't know about it. Out where I live, we don't have Blackberry. (Actually, there is a provider but that would change my phone number).Originally Posted by TheContact
You must have already visited this thread: Blackberry integration
But it looks like the idea will not allow push email.
All the best with Subject filtering... let us know if it works.
Thankfully, it looks like subject filtering does work. It's not exactly elegant, but the spam tags to the subject are applied before it's moved to a mailbox for whatever reason. This at least allows me to filter it via BIS and not have it sent to my blackberry.
Thanks for the help!
It does actually scan the message for SPAM and viruses before it forwards it. If it is a virus it will not forward it period. Spam on the other hand is slightly different. If it hits your kill level it will discard the message, if it hits the tag level it will tag the message, but it never gets to the zimbra mailbox to be put into the junk folder. The message is forwarded as it normally would be. This also explains why you can tag the subject with something like ***SPAM***. Hope this clarifies things.

If it's tagged, it does both for me:
1. Goes to Junk Folder
2. Gets sent to forwarded E-Mail Address
At least with the: "User-specified forwarding address:"
Would imagine: "Forwarding addresses hidden from the user:"
would be the same, eh?
( Forwarding tab from the admin screen for that user )
