Default Shared adressbook

Hi all,

I would like to agree, while i love the upcoming really cool features of Zimbra, the need of shared adress books is very needed and something that prevent full scale deployment. Also, it would be great to have the possibility to create groups, and share something to a group.

/Daniel

BTW - Does anyone have any update on the status of Sugarcrm integration?(the most important feature would be to share adressbook with Sugarcrm....)

Once again, thanks for a very cool product!

You can still vote in bugzilla, you just need to create a bugzilla account.

And so I can! I saw something else and confused the two processes.

I'll second that. I just spent a long time digging around for a simple scheduling/contact management app and came up with lots of "eh, not quite" results. Then I found Zimbra, installed it (what's with the lack of FreeBSD binaries, BTW?) and it seemed really nice. Then we started adding contacts and figured we just couldn't find the right thing to click to mark them as "shared".

I could roll this out for a number of small biz clients (that would pay for the full edition), but this is really a show stopper. What business does not have a set of vendors, salescritters, support contacts, etc. that need to be available to all employees?

I did just vote, BTW. It looks like there's some activity on the bug. Is there a cvs version of zimbra I can check out and install to get even limited/buggy support for shared contacts?

Charles

You'd have to compile CVS yourself. But it's available. Just search for CVS in the announcements forum to get the host etc. We have started on the feature but I'm pretty sure it's not usable for sharing yet. I think only the multiple folders is supported at this time.

Kevin, so you're saying if by some stroke of luck I can compile HEAD (which I believe is 3.5) I will have some kinda support for Shared Contacts and Asterisk? If this is the case, I might work day and night to get this to work, because Shared Contacts is THE BIG thing to a "Collaboration Suite".... hard to Collaborate when I can't see someone elses notes on a business contact. ;-)

The Asterisk integration would just be a bonus. If I can finally move my company to Zimbra and prove it meets all of our needs, we would purchase the network edition, because every other feature that works in Zimbra is spectacular.

Correct. I'd advise you that main is a bit unstable now. Give us a week or two and we'll have some dev builds out that should more or less function. It will give you an idea of what's coming and let you begin to play with the new features.
