We have recently upgraded to ZCS 5.0.2 and have run into a highly visible problem that affects our offsite broadband users: over 60 second delays to open a new message window.
The lazy loading feature in 5.0 which reduces the time taken for the client load and display the inbox has reduced the typical initial load time for our offsite users to 20 seconds. Switching between tabs the first time, such as the calendar or the preferences, takes about 5 seconds. However, opening a new mail message or replying to an existing message for the first time cause a delay of more than 60 seconds before the window completes loading. This is actually much worse for usability than having a longer initial login delay.
Does anyone else have this issue?
Is there a way to force unlazy pre-loading of the compose packages at login?
Why is it only the compose window load that is so delayed - three times the initial login delay?
Remote users typically access zimbra over low cost ADSL (265/512) using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on either a windows or linux platform. Our Zimbra installation is 5.0.2 UBUNTU6. Users in the office, co-located on the LAN with the server, experience an initial load delay on compose of only a few seconds.
