mailbox over quota

Hi,


I am using opensource zcs 4.5, i had set up the mailbox quota 100mb for
per user.

if the mailbox is full for one particular user, and i am trying to send the mail
to that user, whether zimbra bounce back that mail or kept in defered

how can other know that mail is gone to that user or not

It will sit in deferred for a while (incase their quota gets freed up) after the max number of retries you will get a bounce.

5.0.x also has quota warning notices configurable/build in to the admin console gui.

is this new to ZCS 5? After upgrading fom 4.5.5 to 5.0.2 my deferred queue has increased from 300 to over 6.000 in just 2 days.

In my impression mails for users with over quota should not even be accepted by SMTP and a 4.2.2 error should be issued. It seems a bad idea to me to accept mails in this case and try to generate a bounce some days later as usually most of the deferred mails are spam that can not be bounced correctly.

From the senders point of view I also want to receive a message immediately when a user is not receiving my mail due to "over quota" instead of getting no answer which makes me belive, that my mail has been received...

At least this should be a configurable option otherwise I would consider this behavior to be a bug...

if some mailbox is remain full (100 %) of particular user for 2 days
what is the impact,

all mails are comming to that user, after that will be remain in deffered

or


the mails which reside in the mailbox folder of that user get deleted by zimbra.
