how to restore dar file which is encrypted. Iam getting the following error
command :
# dar -K bf:557cf69338fdade93f5b4260ac1427b0 -l 31_Zimbra_Backup_04-August-2008_FULL.1.dar |head
Warning, 31_Zimbra_Backup_04-August-2008_FULL.1.dar seems more to be a slice name than a base name. Do you want to replace it by 31_Zimbra_Backup_04-August-2008_FULL ? [return = OK | Esc = cancel]
Continuing...
Warning, the archive 31_Zimbra_Backup_04-August-2008_FULL has been encrypted. A wrong key is not possible to detect, it would cause DAR to report the archive as corrupted
FATAL error, aborting operation
too large elastic buffer or elastic buffer incoherent structure

thanks in advance

hi pals

i used this script in opensuse10.2. and it works well. after executing this script
three folders are created.
1) /tmp/fakebackup
2) /Backup/zimbra_dars
3) /Backup/burn

in /tmp/fakebackup folder i can find all the files and directories available in /opt/zimbra

now i want to copy (restore) backup to /opt/zimbra how to do this

i think we can do this by modifying in this script, source /tmp/fakebackup and
destination /opt/zimbra

I'm not much of a fan of modifying my working backup script. If /tmp/fakebackup has a current backup of your entire /opt/zimbra tree, all you need to do is stop Zimbra, copy the contents of /tmp/fakebackup over top of /opt/zimbra, and restart Zimbra. Presto changeo, backup restored!

What I would personally suggest on top of this is to move the zimbra folder if you have the disk space, just in case

Hi,
at the end of that script, I get :

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::
Full Zimbra Backup ended at: 22:54
Backup took Hr:0 Min:18 Sec:43 to complete
:::::::::::::::::Cheers Osoffice for the script:::::::::::::::::::::::
./zmbac.sh: line 901: /backup/zimbra/dars/Backuplist-19-aug-2008.txt.gz: Permission denied
No message, no subject; hope that's ok

Is it a critic problem ?
I've read that the Permission denied isn't, but I don't know for "No message, no subject; hope that's ok".
PS: encryption is off

I see the 901 error when I run the script manually (as root or any other user) but I don't see it when the script is executed by cron. I don't know about the "no message" error, but I'm guessing the email portion of the script isn't set-up quite right and you didn't receive a notification email on completion of a full backup?

Personally I'd want to get the email notification working so that I received the message that says "everything went okay" after a full backup is done, but if you're happy and the backup has worked, that's all that matters. I trust you have attempted a restore to make sure it worked? (the acid test of all backups).

Me too...
Now, the script send me an email, but empty:

./zmbac.sh: line 901: /backup/zimbra/dars/Backuplist-21-august-2008.txt.gz: Permission denied
Null message body; hope that's ok

Any idea ? Could it be cause I've run the script from the command line ?

Tanks
