Default Slow IMAP performance after upgrade to 5.x?

We've had a number of users complaining about slow IMAP and POP performance after they've been migrated to Zimbra 5.x - we're currently on 5.0.2 and many of these users didn't report any issues until the upgrade to 5.x..

We're in a multi-node setup and I know that the proxy service is now java based, but has anyone else heard of problems like this?

The Zimbra interface alone is not having any performance problems and is performing fine.

Any ideas or internal bugs that are known?

Thanks

What part of the experience is slow, and with which client?

Major upgrades can occasionally change the UID Validity value for mail folders. (I'm not sure if this is the issue with the 5.0 upgrade.) In that case, clients will have to redownload all their cached messages. If a user clicks on a message that hasn't been redownloaded, they'll get the client-to-server FETCH latency rather than seeing the message body retrieved from the client's local cache...

We're aware of the issues with UID, but that's limited to POP3 and these are mostly IMAP users complaining. This is in a multi server setup and it's happening on Outlook Express and Tbird.
